Tips on how to Germinate and Plant Cannabis Seeds

Marijuana seeds are not that hard to grow. However, you to get the process right if you want to grow healthy plants. If you are a first time grower, you need to look for seed varieties that are easy to grow such as the auto flowering seeds variety. This will offer you an easier time cultivating your plants as well as make the process more familiar such that you can graduate to growing other varieties.

The first step to successful germinating and growing of cannabis seeds is to get the seeds from a reliable source. Good quality seeds will give you an assurance that they will germinate. Poor quality seeds may not germinate. Good quality seeds will also grow into healthy plants with good yields. You will get the full benefit of the plant in meeting your medicinal needs.

Germinating

Germinating weed seeds is an easy process. You can germinate them mechanically or you can use a commercial germination unit. When you choose to germinate the seeds without aid of a germination unit, you will not require to do much. The first step is to expose the seeds to the right amount of moisture in order to break the hard seed cover.

You can soak the seeds in water for about 24-32 hours. This will soften the upper seed coat allowing the seed to sprout. After soaking, you should remove them from water and place them in a warm area. They should lie there undisturbed until they sprout. You can also opt to plant them directly after the soak.

The germination stage therefore does not require much apart from the right amount of moisture and warmth. The temperature that you expose the seeds to should therefore ideally support the sprouting of the seeds. The other option you have for a successful germination is to carry out the process in spring as the weather will allow easy germination.

Planting

Planting presents a wide variety of dynamics on its own. You should first decide where you would be growing the plants. Indoors and outdoors are the options that you have, with each presenting different advantages and disadvantages. This information is also vital in your selection of weed seeds.

The other decision you have to make and that relies on your choice of where to grow is the growing medium. Mediums such as hydroponics are ideal for indoor planting. The choice of planting medium as well as location will depend on what suits you as well as what works best for your plant.

Planting the sprouted seeds is a delicate process as you do not want to disturb the root system. The seed should be such that it's top lies just below the surface. The sprouted root should face downwards for quick growing process. In soil medium, the seed should be a centimeter or two below the surface. While light is not essential for growth at this stage, warmth is and the planting medium should be warm to facilitate this growth. If you are planting outdoor, the sunshine should be strong enough to warm the soil. If you are planting indoor, then you can use heating lamps for the job.

In a few days, you should start seeing the seedlings showing on the surface. You can transplant them when they have formed two nodes and not a moment before this.  When the seedlings start showing above, then you can introduce the light to help them grow further if you have planted indoors.
